Yesterday

We had a fun book club here yesterday. I made pumpkin lasagna with scallops for dinner but started out with a green smoothie. I told everyone they had a liquid salad. They were all polite and took a sip - then they drank it all up. Wow, what is in that, it's really good. Kind of a don't judge a book by its "color" This one contains Spinach, mango, banana, lime, OJ, water and flax seed oil. I am learning how to make them less sweet and some times savory with no fruit, just veggies. From my reading, we have gotten really far away from raw food that is much higher in nutrients. I am tired of the same old salad and now I can drink it.

We read Death at the Fenice by Donna Leon. It is a Guido Brunelli mystery - the first in a series of 20. I have probably read half of them and really enjoy the characters and location. They all take place in Venice (my favorite city) and are never gory. Characters are interesting and food always makes me hungry and they don't always end in a predictable way.

Yesterday's other event. had to do with Roscoe. I went into the bathroom late in the afternoon and saw a coyote running down the hill near the house. Then there was another one behind him , Roscoe and a third one bringing up the rear. He really had them running and it didn't look like he was at all threatened. They got down near the road, stopped, looked around and realized he had stopped. He was back on the deck and had chased them off. I am suspecting his genes are kicking in and he is protecting his herd (us) from the wolves that would go after his sheep if he was working in France. I sure hope he will always scare and outrun them.
