Dog Sense

This is from an email my friend Mary Ann sent me recently (there is no credit to the author). It really fit into my thinking because I had just inquired about a dog I saw at a shelter. A dog can give so much, such as daily walks, affection and unconditional love, not to mention house cleaning exercise with a hairy friend.

I think these points say it all:

  • When loved ones come home always run to greet them
  • Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride
  • Allow the experience of fresh air and wind to be pure ecstasy
  • Take naps
  • Stretch before rising
  • Run, romp and play daily
  • Thrive on attention and let people touch you
  • Avoid biting when a simple growl will do
  • On warm days, stop to lie on your back in the grass
  • On hot days, drink lots of water and lie in the shade of a tree
  • When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body
  • Delight in the simple joy of a long walk
  • Be loyal
  • Never pretend to be something you're not
  • When something you want lies buried, dig until you find it
  • When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently
There comes a time in life, when you walk away from all the drama and the people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh, forget the bad and focus on the good, so love the people who treat you right. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living.

This cutie is still in NM but should be in Winter Park in a week or two. She looks so sweet.

  1. Love your blogs (you know that!) Hope you're going to be seeing this cute little lady when she arrives? Remember....this manhattan cat-sitter would happily volunteer as a Colorado dog-sitter. Friend-sitting available, too.
