In the Hood

We had a very exciting breakfast today. I saw movement at the front door while I was trying to swallow oatmeal down my burned, scratchy throat. I got up to look out the windows by the sink and there was a beautiful, young bobcat on the deck!
He/she/it went to the back of the house so we followed it out the bedroom windows. She kept looking down the window-well in the west bedroom - something smelled good down there, so he jumped down the ladder to find the treasure. Sure enough, it came up with a dead, VERY dead mouse in its mouth. Then she realized he was in a deep hole and looked around to find the best way out. We were ready to put a branch or board in for him to climb out but no need. She looked at the corner and jumped, ran up the wall and back out the grate at the top. Can you imagine jumping at least three times you body length in a single bound? Not quite as good as Superman but impressive. It then looked back at the mouse he left behind and wondered off to look for a fresher breakfast.

Something smells mighty good down there.

What's the best way down?

I have it and you aren't getting it, camera lady.

Well, that thing was dead and dessicated, time for something fresher.

  1. Wow! What a gorgeous critter. You should put stuff out for him to lure him daily.
