All that rain we had last weekend deposited snow to the upper peaks. I guess it could have been worse and it is nice to see them with a fresh coat of snow.
I have still haven't gotten a wildflower book but here is the next installment of the wonderful bloomers. I planned to do one a week but they are adding new ones quicker than that so I will be mixing the in for a while.
I do know lupines and the wild rose below.
This is a shot of a pine beetle (I think). They have decimated the lodge pole pines near Breckenridge and Vail.I found two of these on this tree. The yellow at the front of the insect is sap. The trees spew it out to deter them from getting into the trunk. It looked like this tree was fighting hard and I hope it was successful.
Oh, sometimes these comments are harder than they should be.
ReplyDeleteI hope you killed the beetle. Is it okay to root for the trees? to intervene in their favor?
And, I love the blog. Even when it has pictures of mud.
