Listen-Don't Wait

I have really debated about posting this event but decided it might encourage someone else to listen to their body when it is telling them something serious could possible be going on.

Last week I had a flu shot and had some lightheadedness and sweats that afternoon. It all went away and I didn't pay any more attention. The next morning I had tightness in my chest that was very uncomfortable and as the morning went on it started traveling up my neck and into my jaw. Hummmmm, I know that isn't good. I took some ibuprofen and that helped with the intensity. After a lot of should we or shouldn't we, Mick declared we're going to the hospital. Off we went.

All you have to say is heart and you are seen. We went through the paperwork and off to the ER as the pain got worse. I'd say it got up to an eight before it subsided. I was interviewed, poked, prodded and EKG'd to death (not quite). I probably had two dozed of these sticky button thingies all over my body by the time they were done. Blood work, CT scans, laying in bed having a chemical stress test,  vitals etc. all to find out my heart is perfect and that isn't what is going to get me.

I also was part of the shakedown crew in the new hospital.  It was only open a week and people are trying to find their way around. The EKG technician wore a pedometer and the first time she used it she walked five miles and then she was down to three miles and two days later. The help was great, some wonderful people and the food is hospital food.

I was released by six the next afternoon with a clean bill  of health. It was decided that it had to be muscle.

I woke up the next morning remembering I'd had a major coughing fit the night before "the event" and figure the muscles must have all contracted and continued after I woke up. So after appropriate pain pills and muscle relaxants I feel my " normal " self again.

Remember - When in doubt get it checked!
