I couldn't go back to NJ without a trip to the shore. I decided to go to Seaside and Long Beach State Park which were favorite places at different times in my life. I was also curious to see what Sandy left behind and it wasn't good. You have probably seen the pictures of the roller coaster in the middle of the ocean that was taken there after the storm. Many of the ticky tacky houses are still standing but I didn't check to see if they were condemned. Hope not, they are so much a part of this town.
Much of the work I saw being done was the rebuilding of the monster houses on the dunes (duh?) and the infrastructure of sewers and water so the roads were a mess. I was very fortunate that my friend's husband loaned me his car so I was able to explore on my own. On my way back, I drove up the coast till I had enough.
I also had my Jersey Tomatoes and they are as good as I remember them! I had one In NYC that was sliced and drizzled with butter - to die for.

By far THE BEST pizza I have ever had. It was on Man vs Food and Teague said I must try it. I'm so glad I did. |
