I have a long time friend here who is happy again. I have been growing this star cactus for at least 35 years and it has only flowered once before when I lived in Spencer. The flowers are big (Mick's hand is in the last photo) and smell like rotten meat (to attract flies for pollination). It isn't the best smell to have in the kitchen but it is only for a few days per flower.
