Farewell My Mothersisterfriend

The time has come to say good-by to my wonderful sister. She waited for me to have the break between treatments so we had a couple more days together. It made me so very happy to be able to care for her in her last few days of life. We didn't talk much because she was too weak to hear but she knew I was there.

Her death was as beautiful as it could be. We were all there with her, Bernie, Kris and Katie, Tim and Todd and Mick and I. Her breathing slowed down and then there wasn't another as she slipped away. She had a christian/native send off with a blessing by the leader of the local Southern Ute nation. Her final resting place is a wonderful spot just up the street from their home. She is on the edge of a field with a broad vista of the high plains and the mountains in the distance. We all buried her, giving closure and a purpose to the burial.

I miss her so much. She has been such an influence in my life, a wonderful role model and friend. I must have been a very good student because her friends kept telling me how much I looked, talked, walked, used my hands like her. An honor.

I am the final Pinaud of this generation and hope to keep that role for a very long time.
