Cats and Dogs

Just a little thought I stole from Linda and Geoffrey Post in their new catalogue for the Paradise City Fairs. Cats and Dogs can be best understood by the basic difference in their world views.

About their owners a dog thinks: "This person is great. She feeds me, she pets me and she plays with me. She must be a God".

A cat, on the other hand, thinks: "This person is great. She feeds me, she pets me and she plays with me. I must be a god".

I think we all know people who fall into the cat/dog personalities. Dogs feed us and give us unconditional love. Maybe we, as receivers are draining to dog personalities, but cats on the other hand are draining because they never give back. So I guess I'm saying we each need to find a balance in our worlds so we both give and receive depending on each other's needs. We need to be able to read each other well and also be able to express our needs.

Right now I am feeling so cat like and Mick is being a wonderful dog. You who know me also know how I love dogs. He is there for me all the time (as long as he gets to ski, also). Listens to me, gives when I need it and pushes me when he thinks it is appropriate. I, as a cat, take it all in. Not just from Mick but from all the wonderful family and friends who are so there for me during this testy time.

Thanks for allowing me to be a cat - I will get back to a balance when this is all over, I promise.
