Drugs....

Was this a drug induced nightmare?

Funny story from a while back. When I was in the hospital having my lobotomy oops that was a lobectomy I had a self administered morphine drip. Night one I woke up at 4 a.m. in so much pain I literally couldn't move. After much fuss and more drugs the nurses got it all under control and I finished my night's sleep - till the 6 a.m. vitals check. When Susie (surgeon) came in that morning I told her about it and said it felt like someone had a knife in my back. She sheepishly looked at me and said, "I did."

The nurses admitted it is hard to keep giving yourself pain meds when you are trying to sleep but don't be afraid to use it. I couldn't get any more frequently than every 15 minutes so don't be afraid to use it. Well, the next night I made sure I used it - every 15 minutes. No pain but the next morning I was  drugged and trashed and hung over. The nurses came in again and almost fell over when they saw how much I used. Needless to say, I used appropriate moderation the rest of my stay!
