Medical Stuff

Actually, this is an old picture but it does say medical.
Friday was a day of medical stuff. Nine fifteen I had a dry run of radiation. They had to make sure my tattoos were in the right spots for the radiation beams. Here I am, laying on a rock hard table, topless, with my hands over my head and this gigantic machine all around me. Next a technician came to draw on my naked chest and then one of her male (actually her boss) compatriots came along with his camera and started snapping away, all the time promising he wouldn't post them on Face Book - ha ha ha.

A quick run to the pharmacy to drop off my prescriptions and then my next stop a very relaxing acupuncture session with Shayan. She noticed more tension in my face - wonder why. I do love her treatments and friendship. We met in my first telemark class at Eldora. She ran over a bit and the relaxation disappeared, as I had to rush back to the cancer center for an appointment with Jenny, my oncologist.

Jenny explained why she wanted to use Carboplatin instead of Cisplatin. Long story short is Cisplatin can make my tinnitus worse and there is a chance of hearing loss. Carboplatin it is. She also wants me to have chemo before radiation so that they can work together. She really doesn't know what my chronic cough is about but sent me over for a chest X-ray. I was pleased that she was OK with the supplements my Naturopath recommended.

Before that, I had to make my chemo appointments. I was doing that when I looked behind me and thought I recognized a woman in line but couldn't place her. After she met with her appointment person, I heard her name and she was in my old book club and a neighbor of ours when we lived in the cabin. Turns out she has breast cancer. So sad that I can know someone else there for treatments when I have only lived here for 2 1/2 years.

I walked over to get the x-ray and then back to the radiology department to change my appointments. THEN I had to go back to the pharmacy to drop off another prescription and wait a half hour to pick all FOUR of them up. Anyone need any anti-nausea meds. Being that they give them to me along with the chemo and I have two additional drugs for it, it sounds like nausea is a given. Yuck
