Old Dog Vestibular Syndrome

Well, O looks pretty normal this morning but he sure gave us a scare yesterday. Over a period of 2 hours he went from normal, to stumbling, to listing to the left, to falling and then unable to get up. We thought "this is it" and realized we weren't at all ready to say good-by. Called Cathy, his vet, and she had just left for the day. Then I tried Doc Joe in Ned and he was there for another 45 min. so I raced O to him. He did some blood work to see if he was poisoned and he wasn't so the diagnosis was old dog vestibular and he got a big steroid shot and goes back today for another. It is a blood clot in his inner ear that throws everything off - and it sure did! He was so much better by the time we got home and this morning seems almost OK except when he shakes his head. We are still together for a bit more time!!!!
