This is the well mannered puppy shortly after he arrived here. |
First trick was getting to Boulder without getting car sick... (him not me). I was tempted to just go all the way down but I wasn't sure of his signs so we stopped at the bottom of Magnolia for a quick walk and settle his stomach if it was unhappy.
We got to town and there were a ton of people - oops commencement weekend..... We stayed as far from CU as we could and went directly to the pharmacy. Wouldncha know the slow guy was on and the pick-up line was long and slow. We made friends with the folks ahead (hard looking ((maybe skinhead type)))who was very nice once we spoke but a little scary before that. The woman behind got pulled down by her dog and wound up with cervical spinal fusion. While we were waiting there another dog was behind us and I could just see shelved being emptied by two wild tails. Whew,I was able to keep him in control. When we were leaving, one of the employees, Jenn, came over to give Roscoe a treat and attention. He was wonderful in the store and we learned Jenn doggie sits! She lives on Sugarloaf which is on the other side of Boulder Canyon. I loved how she treated him for a couple min. and we might have found a new friend.
We left there and walked a little in the busy neighborhood and made a stop in the wine store. and at the new ice cream store for a chocolate malt (yummmmm). Other than trying to pull my arm out, he was great.
Then it was back in the car (do I have to????) and off to the DOGGIE PARK, "my mom is the greatest".
There had to be 20-30 dogs there. All different sizes (tiny ones had their own park) shapes and energy levels - mostly high. Roscoe stayed with me at first and smelled everything. As he got braver he would check out some dogs and people, run off and return with a gigantic grin on his face to make sure I was still there. He did seem to spend more time with the people than dogs but it is all about socializing. After we spent over a half hour there, the old panty dog got back into the car and waited there while I stopped to get some art supplies for my class that starts Tuesday.
I decided to risk the ride home with no stops and he didn't get sick!!! We both slept well last night!
