UC Denver, Anschutz Medical Campus

This is where I go every three to four months to see my lung cancer specialist in Denver. From a distance it almost looks like Oz (and I used to think UMass was big). Everything is flat and then these building pop up. I am guessing there are over 20 of them.

Hotel or hospital....

Note the island of tall grass in the center for the birds.

Not the taxi service I ever want..

and more to come.

I went to Denver after my latest scans to see Dr. Paul Bunn who is probably the top lung cancer specialist in the state. Jenny sent him to me early on for a second opinion and so far they are in agreement. Still - let's not do anything. Since I am feeling pretty good don't mess with things even tho it is progressing slowly. I have been worried about any progress after what happened with Sandy and he explained "Normally you'd want breast cancer over lung cancer because of the projected life span but in our cases it is better to have my lung cancer than her breast cancer. Her's was very aggressive while mine is not." What their job is when we get to stage 4 is to find the balance between quality of life and length of life. Mine is progressing slowly and I have no pain and basically feel good (all things considered). Why mess with that to give me drugs that will just make me feel worse and if I go into a trial (which seems like a given now) and have no predictable outcome.

It scares me to know it is active at all but what he said today makes sense. More patience until I start feeling worse or the cancer gets moving faster....
