A Time in the Desert

Carrie sent some of her wonderful pictures for all to enjoy. I haven't had a chance to get mine into the computer yet so please enjoy hers.

This was a picture of part of our campsite at sunset. We were nestled in the rocks and the ground was sand. I am waiting for a windy Ned day now to blow all the sand out of my tent and sleeping bag. It was very hot during the day with little shade so we had to ride bikes for air movement to cool off. I was so glad to get back on my mountain bike and feel good about it -
slick rock (a misnomer) can do that.

Janice found a great spot in the rocks for her morning coffee. (she climbs them well, too)
The most exciting part for me was to finally get to rock climb outside on real rocks. I have done some in climbing gyms but it is nothing compared to the real thing. Sara (6) was doing some amazing stuff just to my right (a route Ty set the day before) but for the first time, I was really proud of what I did.

Scrambling up a steeper face.

Now where do I put my foot.
Not nearly as easy as those colorful grabbie things set up on an indoor wall.

Almost at the top. Glad I wore bright orange so I can find myself.

Belaying back down - thanks Carrie for not letting me fall - after all I am your mother-in-law! Oops, I have to thank Janice for not dropping me - Carrie was my personal photographer!
