Food in Cuba

We were created at each meal with a welcome drink.

I can't tell you what all these things are but it was the best meal we were served. I wish they served more exciting food like this.

Cuban Palatars

One of the first chances for Cubans to make their own money is with palatars. They are allowed to make a restaurant in their home and cook the food. Much of the food was a disappointment because we were served what they thought we would like in both the government restaurants and in palatars. Some of the restaurants are also coops which was a split between private people and government. The other legal way to make money is to open a B&B.

 This was a very nice lunch stop on the third floor in Havana.

A palatar

Another palatar. This was fun because the whole family was there and it was owned by an artist. He gave us a talk about the primitive art their town is known for.

Should have taken a picture of us BEFORE I got beat up. That was the biggest "bottle" of coconut milk. We couldn't finish it together.

This is the street side of the palatar in the past two shots. The green building is the house and the right side is new construction so they can feed people indoors.
